Say it ain't so, Cookie Monster. Even our favorite poster child for fun in food has been caught up in the rush to promote joyless eating.

Following last week's position statement by the American Academy of Pediatrics, blaming media for contributing to childhood obesity, many were jumping on the healthy kids bandwagon in an attempt to head off potential action by Congress and regulators to ban programming that doesn't conform to the new health consciousness. As seen in this historical evolution of the 50 year old mascot for pure food enjoyment, apparently C no longer stands for Cookie, but for Correct, Politically.

On the lighter side.
